Salvation Army Clarifies Nobody Is Being Turned Away From Fayetteville Shelter
Social media reports that some individuals without ID weren’t allowed into the shelter appear to have been misconstrued, according to the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army of the Sandhills Region has issued clarification on turning people away from its shelter over the weekend.
Social media reports that some individuals without ID weren't allowed into the shelter appear to have been misconstrued, according to the Salvation Army.
"We've heard concerns that The Salvation Army's shelter is turning people away who don't have an ID. We want to be absolutely clear: This is not true," the organization said in a social media post. "No one is turned away for lack of identification. We have systems in place to ensure everyone who needs shelter can access it. Our goal is to serve our community, not create barriers."
Over the weekend during the winter storm, multiple social media accounts were sharing information about homeless individuals being turned away.
"To ensure the safety of the men, women, and families at the shelter, we are requesting photo ID at admission. If you don't have a photo ID, we will work with local law enforcement to verify your identity—either by phone or in person. Please come to the shelter to begin the process."
