Cumberland County Commissioners met with Fayetteville officials on Tuesday. They discussed how to help people without homes and a program for veterans seeking work.

The monthly City-County Liaison Committee heard updates from the Fayetteville/Cumberland County Continuum of Care. This group runs programs across the area, tracking who needs shelter and where beds open up.

Officials reviewed the annual Point-in-Time count, which gives a snapshot of homelessness on one winter night. They also looked at Homeless Management Information System data and coordinated entry housing processes. Early results from the 2026 PIT count showed 65 volunteers participated, with five Continuum of Care board members pitching in.

Committee members learned about Redeploying American Veterans, too. This program links veterans with jobs and works to end veteran homelessness for good.

This committee strengthens ties between local governments and partner agencies. It creates space where officials can share ideas and work together on projects that affect people living in both the county and city.
