Fayetteville will host several free workshops for people who want to start or grow nonprofits. The sessions might help existing groups stay afloat, too.
The Economic and Community Development department announced it on February 17. Workshop one happened on February 18, teaching participants how to establish and run a nonprofit.
The second session takes place on March 6 and covers recruiting board members, keeping volunteers happy, and working with donors. April 8 brings the final workshop, where attendees will learn to raise funds through grants, sponsorships, and fundraising campaigns. Sessions begin at 6:30 p.m.
Participants can expect instruction on management practices, fundraising techniques, and financial reporting. These skills matter when keeping an organization running smoothly.
"Strong nonprofits are important to meeting the real, everyday needs of our community," Economic and Community Development Director Chris Cauley said, per a media release. "These workshops are about building the leadership, structure, and sustainability needed to serve residents effectively for the long term."
The department partners with local agencies and groups that might work with the city down the road. Their goal? Help organizations build the capacity they need so they can better serve residents.
Spaces are limited. Registration is required. Workshop locations get sent to participants once they've signed up. Interested residents can fill out the interest form under the What's Happening? Tab at FayettevilleNC.gov/ECD.
